Our impact, where and how our products are made and the good stuff we are working on as a social enterprise

Kia ora ocean lovers. We believe that sustainability is more than just buying "eco-friendly products". It's a holistic journey; from where and how raw materials are sourced, our packaging, carbon footprint and who is selling our products.

Seasick is a wāhine-led, NZ-owned and operated social enterprise focused on protecting both the environment and people.

Our Impact

We donate 2% of revenue to ocean conservation and education. That might not sound like a lot but when you are a small business, 2% off revenue (not profit) is a significant amount. Of course we know our donations alone aren't enough to support conservation efforts but the good news is there is a network of like-minded businesses out there working towards a common goal; protecting the future of our planet.

We raise awareness about threats to our oceans such as pollution. Plastic production is manufactured using massive amounts of oil or natural gas and energy. Once the product has been used, that plastic is usually put in the rubbish or recycling. Only 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide.

~

We monitor our carbon and set goals around our carbon footprint as a business. Our emissions as a business are already pretty low because we work from home. We have developed an energy efficiency commitment and resources outlining how we dispose of any work related waste sustainably (like E-waste), how we can reduce transport emissions and put into place other environmental practices at home.

Plastic production is very carbon intensive which is why we are a plastic-free and have a plastic free shipping policy, which you can read more about by following the link. We will only post your eco goods in FSC certified and recycled cardboard that can be recycled. Partnering with CarbonClick means that we also give consumers the opportunity to contribute to reducing our collective carbon impact from freight and production.

We believe everyone should be able to afford to protect their skin from the sun. That's why we provide sunscreen at greatly reduced prices to groups and organisations in need. This includes children-focused initiatives such as schools and playgroups, sailing clubs, charities and non-profits. Want to know if you qualify? Hoki-dokie, what next?
